While running for Sylvania City Council in 2005 I identified three issues that were important to me as a candidate. (1) Lower the Sylvania Income Tax (2) Efficient Long-term Government Planning; and (3) Effective Collaboration between the City and Township.
As I knocked on thousands of doors in our community during that campaign, I discussed with you the residents of Sylvania my three key issues and others that were important to each of you. What I learned during those conversations is represented in this pie-chart below. I've expressed each issue as a percentage, and the total 'population' of responses comes from more than 400 individuals whose comments were recorded.

Now as I begin my second year as a Councilmember, I am confident we will continue progress begun in 2006. I am further encouraged that the debate on key issues has increased in both Council and the public forum. Constructive debate is healthy, even if it has traditionally not been the way things are done. Government does its best work when its customers are informed and engaged in community matters. Greater sharing of information allows for better debate. That is also why I have and will continue to champion greater accessibility and open government; Sharing of information beyond meeting the minimum “sunshine law’ regulations.
Please view the accomplishments tab of my website for additional information on progress made in 2006.
